Another service project that our students completed this fall was a large group service project. This group chose to volunteer to do outdoor clean-up at another high school in our city. Our students were mostly hard-working, but they had fun, as well. On two different Sunday's, they gave their time to improving their city. We were also glad to be joined by several non-Access students and an inspiring teacher. They were great help, and fun to get to know. Good job, everyone!!!

Park Beautification Project
During November and December 2015, our Access students developed and implemented small group community service projects. One group desired to improve the look of a downtown park, near a town hall. These young women wrote a proposal which was approved by the city managers. Then, the ladies gathered together to plant flowers across the park. We thank the city for their approval, and the park supervisor for his advice and help! Great project, ladies!!!

Halloween 2015 - Part 2: The Party
November 1, instead of October 31, is the date we held our Access Halloween party. The Sunday morning timing just worked better because of schedules and transportation! At our party, which was held at a local tea room, our students had an opportunity to have their faces painted, competed in a costume contest, played games, did a little trick or treating, heard the results of the jack-o-lantern contest, and mostly received and ate a lot of candy! (The main feature of Halloween is, after all, the candy!) Here are some pics:
Halloween 2015 - Part 1: Preparations
Late in October, our Access classes made decorations for our first Halloween party! In 2014, our students had seen a jack-o-lantern in Mrs. Harbin's classroom, but in 2015, our students got to work in small groups to design and make their own jack-o-lanterns! Check out the pictures below:
